The Vagina’s Ability to Decide

If you have watched, read or listened to any news in the past two days, you have probably heard this ridiculousness about magic vaginas preventing pregnancy without the aid of birth control.

Its just too easy, and really this politician deserves some finger poking for his laughable statement.

“It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare,” Akin told KTVI-TV. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.”

This was stated by representative Todd Akin, who is a Republican candidate for Senate in Missouri.

Nice buddy.

So is this guy really that out of touch with reality and education or does he really think the general population is stupid enough to believe him?

I mean wow.  To think this guy is one election away from having the power to make laws, and he doesn’t even know how the human reproductive system works.  They teach that in middle school!

Even his own party is stepping away and announcing their lack of support and calling for him to step down.  And actually he has until close of business today to step down and let someone else take his place running for election.

Obama had a good response.

Listen/View Obama’s response here

“The views expressed were offensive,” said Obama. “Rape is rape. And the idea that we should be parsing and qualifying and slicing what types of rape we are talking about doesn’t make sense to the American people and certainly doesn’t make sense to me. So what I think these comments do underscore is why we shouldn’t have a bunch of politicians, a majority of whom are men, making health care decisions on behalf of women.”
