Interweb Adventures Nov 9, 2012

Here are some of the interesting, shocking, funny, stupid, inspiring and informative things that I saw on the interweb this week.

Camelot Horse Weekly posted A rare black and white photograph of the great stallion Nearco being led out of his specially built underground bomb shelter at the Beech House Stud during the Second World War. Photo was taken by the famous equestrian photographer Anscomb. The image is known as THE ALL CLEAR, 1941.

Additional info from Wikipedia: Nearco (1935–1957) was an Italian bred Thoroughbred Racehorse described by Thoroughbred Heritageas “one of the greatest racehorses of the Twentieth Century” and “one of the most important sires of the century.”  He was not only unbeaten, winning 14 races at distances from 5 furlongs (1,000m) to 1 mile 7 furlongs (3,000m), but also the patriarch of the most dominant sire line in Thoroughbred history.

This fantastic video message from Rachel Maddow.

This silly jab, that made me giggle.

A friend posted a link on Facebook that listed some of the ridiculous and negative reactions to the election results.  It listed Rush Limbaugh making an infamous claim, blaming women for Obama’s reelection.  He stated that women fall into Obama’s trap because “He treats them like vaginas and they say he’s my man.”

All I could say to that was wow.

I mean really, are we supposed to take this man seriously?

I don’t even know if I should take that as an insult to women.

Treats them like vaginas.

K.

Moving on.

This link to Forbes (you have to hit “continue to article” on the upper right) telling how the Romney campaign cancelled staffers credit cards the same night of the election.

“Aides taking cabs home late that night got rude awakenings when they found the credit cards linked to the campaign no longer worked.”

There was a hilarious Ebay commercial that featured xmas morning and a real live pony under the tree.  I laughed out loud.

I read a link about the change in law in both Colorado and Washington in regards to marijuana.  Both states passed laws that make recreational use of marijuana legal.  I noticed in the poles that Washington had higher approval of marijuana than same sex marriage or the presidential pick.  Colorado also had more yes votes for marijuana than it did for President Obama (or Romney) Interesting.

There was a link that talked about Tammy Duckworth, who is an Iraq War Veteran that was elected to Congress in Illinois.  She was wounded in service and has two prosthetic legs.

I saw links to a ton of Gangnam Style music video parodies.  Here is one to Jockey Style.

And there were a couple links (here is one) to responses to same sex marriage that was on several states ballots.  There were several photos on these links that showed exuberant couples hearing that they could get married.  The photo below made me smile.

AND during all of this, I finally figured out how to put videos ON my blog page!  woo!
